The digitization and rule-based construction of electricity, water, gas, telecom, and streetlight networks are done in GIS systems by following various rules.

We specialize in the documentation, correction, and updating of networks in Smallworld. We also troubleshoot and fix various data issues on these networks.

Over 50,000 km captured.

Over 15 years of experience.

50 network operators.

We not only support our customers in the creation and updating of digital network documentation in various geographic information systems, but we also support them in achieving optimal data quality. Normally, we take on the role of a “subcontractor” for companies commissioned to carry out these digitization projects in a short time. With the support of our offshore team for manual intensive tasks and project management from Germany, we ensure that the project remains economical while meeting quality standards and deadlines.

For more than 18 years, with this constellation, we have successfully delivered a large number of up-to-date, well-structured, complete, precise, and uniform digital GIS/CAD datasets for various energy supply networks. Below you will find an overview of the most important requirements that we process for our customers, as well as our range of services in the areas of network documentation.

Typically, our customers require the rule-based and dimension-based updating and construction of energy, water, and gas supply networks, as well as the updating of these networks with updated information sourced from various digital and analogue sources such as survey plans, sketches, and schematic plans.

We specialize in correcting and updating networks, optimizing the quality of datasets, and checking them for redundant or counterfeit dimensions, inner workings, circuit diagrams, and more. In addition, we check and validate networks or their elements with regard to dimensions, geometry, topology, factual data, and network elements such as labels, QS, and protective tubes.

After data integration, we may also review and update networks and their relationships to the objects, checking and editing associated elements, geometric and attributive relationships in target GIS systems.

Sometimes, customers require us to check and correct the networks for errors after migration. This is a highly specialized task that requires a thorough understanding of the network.

Our services also include simple vectorization/digitization of existing network plans, such as those for electricity, water, gas, street lighting, district heating, and telecom, from analogue scanned and georeferenced images to a digital network. Georeferencing tasks may also be required.

Other requirements include homogenization of the network, verification, correction, and updating of the datasets based on given coordinate systems, and development of a correct and consistent digital GIS/CAD dataset.

Finally, we can create a digital network plan for a given area of interest (e.g., large construction sites) by digitizing all network types of different network operators with different specifications.”

The requirements can range from simple vectorization of analog network maps to the construction of complex networks with contributions from multiple departments. At INSELLCO, we are open to discussing requirements that differ from the description above.

We also accept orders where only specific tasks for the respective energy supply network need to be completed. We promptly review existing details and, in consultation with our customers, develop a uniform process for each processing task. We take responsibility for understanding the requirements, preparing documentation, training our staff for the given tasks, quality control, and delivering processed mesh datasets.

Homogenization process according to project-specific quality assurance (adjustment of network topologies, object associations,cross-section details, dimensions reference points etc.)

Short “Gestation” Time:

Thanks to our team’s specialized knowledge and practical experience in digitizing networks in various GIS systems, we can start projects quickly and deliver output data within a short time. We have thorough documentation available for each network type and associated objects, allowing us to work efficiently.

Flexibility:

We are flexible to work with various industry standard GIS software or specialized modules (Fachschale) developed by service or network providers. We can take on small or large long-term assignments and work on a flexible “fixed time-boxed budget” approach or any other estimation suggested to us.

Technical Compliance:

We have a unique mix of highly specialized GIS professionals with extensive experience in various geographic information systems, including Smallworld with FS (electricity, gas, water), Microstation (sinNET), ArcFM UT, QGIS, and other third-party CAD/GIS systems. We are familiar with the features and data models specific to network operators, ensuring technical compliance with project requirements.

Attention to Detail:

We have a good understanding of circuit diagrams, civil objects, technical drawings, technical terms related to different network types. We interpret and understand various survey data, overview plans, measurement sketches, symbology, and many other different project-specific terms with ease, ensuring accurate and detailed project output.

Long-Term Presence:

We have been engaged in network documentation since 2005 and have accumulated extensive knowledge and experience over the years. We can differentiate specifications, data models, and customer requirements according to network type, adding new layers of knowledge with help from our customers over time.

Cost advantage:

We remain competitive in the market thanks to our unique and flexible team and work management. In some cases, we prepare a cost estimate at the bidding stage of the project to have a better chance of winning the tender.
