Geodata Road
The Geodata-Road service is generally understood as the analysis of data from mobile/airborne mapping in a specific GIS system. Our main task is to extract the necessary details of existing traffic areas (roads, parking lots, etc.) and other objects of interest present in the road space.
Evaluation of road features in 2D and 3D
Over 10 years of experience
Over 200 projects completed
We specialize in producing different results from given road imagery and LiDAR point cloud data. We offer experienced staff with expertise in interpreting and extracting different road features.
Strong understanding of existing objects and regulations governing the maintenance of the road surfaces (e.g. boundaries). This also includes types of road signs, the variety of paved and unpaved surfaces and markings on the roads.
The condition of the road can be analyzed using manual and automatic methods based on given definitions. These definitions are part of larger specifications that also describe different types of road materials and data standards to be followed.
Our work focuses on the “Geodata Road” include:
Road infrastructure
(Paved, unpaved, pedestrian paths)
Cycle paths
(Paths with or without roads)
Road conditions
(cracks, gaps...)
Expressways
Traffic signs and markings
Features and objects
Key Requirements: In Projekten begegnen wir einer Vielzahl von Anforderungsprofilen.
Requirements profile:
There are different ways to manage road data in GIS systems. We receive precise requirements from our customers to record certain objects according to certain rules.
The data processing requirements range from simple location detection of objects along roads to rule-based evaluation of complex road areas including their condition and markings.
Some role requirements include the creation of 2D/3D digital infrastructure data, integrating input geospatial data sets from various mapping techniques (aerial and earth surveys) to produce current, complete, accurate and consistent infrastructure/road data.
We are supposed to identify different types of areas/objects on roads and sidewalks, update them while respecting different rules and administrative boundaries. Data updating using a new GIS system or a new technique like photogrammetry technology.
We are asked to go through country-specific signage, digitization guidelines, symbology, etc. Some special requirements only include certain tasks that need to be done, e.g. cycle path condition recording, which is to be digitized in a short time
We are often tasked with using AI-based tools developed by the client or using third-party tools to prepare road data. We are tasked with creating accurate asset inventories by using various image interpretation techniques and third-party tools.
The list of requirements and our offer are not limited to the tasks mentioned above, but grow with the growing range of 2D and 3D mapping technologies and the way in which content is generated. Today, a wide variety of objects and assets that belong to the road space have to be identified, vectorized and assigned with increasing accuracy.
Another focus is on making these recorded objects positionally accurate in 2D and 3D, which requires careful handling of data sets.
We often receive requests to post-process the data from mobile transporters with a large number of images, LiDAR point clouds or aerial images with non-positionally accurate camera data.
Performance profile:
Our road data services range from the recording of simple object locations to the evaluation of complex road areas. We also record road conditions and markings according to the given specifications.
Highly precise and location-specific documentation of a wide range of street signs and assignment of corresponding attributes. Inventory lists for other street objects in the street space, e.g. light poles, drains, trees, shafts or gas and water taps, etc.
Highly precise, location-specific, geometrically correct documentation of a wide range of areas (lanes, pedestrian zones, parking spaces, green spaces, cycle lanes, driveways, etc.) and assignment of corresponding attributes. Creation and updating of municipal road maps according to regional and national standards by using a large number of input data.
Using custom AI tools along with manual identification techniques to produce the most current, accurate and complete data outputs related to road conditions makes differentiation with the material used possible.
We are able to use different evaluation technologies independently or in combination to present the desired result in 3D. We are able to identify and delineate different built-up objects present in the given AOI in 2D and 3D.
Using survey data in combination with other types of datasets (official road data, GIS data, or existing mapping survey data) to create and update road data.
The requirements for digital data for roads and infrastructure range from simple vectorization of various objects to position-accurate 2D and 3D capture of a wide variety of objects in this infrastructure. We often receive requests to post-process the data from mobile transporters with a large number of images, LiDAR point clouds or aerial images with camera data.
We develop an appropriate strategy to post-process this data based on given specifications.
We quickly meet the requirements, develop the necessary documentation and workflows, provide guidance to our offshore staff and deliver the output data according to the agreed schedules.
Our knowledge of different road typologies, infrastructure classifications, civil engineering, data formats, understanding of technical drawings and traffic engineering terminology helps us to set up data collection projects quickly.
We can distinguish between public and private areas, regional and national standards, city and municipal boundaries, road sections and many occasional features. We understand the characteristics of road elements, traffic use area, map section, roundabout, junctions, traffic direction, etc.
Processing large volumes of imagery and point cloud data captured by mobile or aerial mapping for roads and related infrastructure. We quickly train our team on any custom tool provided by customers.
Our flexibility to work with various AI tools and deliver error-free data after manual review makes us unique. We develop time-optimized workflows that help us provide a transparent cost estimate.
Our data operators for the road team are trained to identify and interpret various objects present in the road space. They are trained to work on various GIS systems and also switch to photogrammetry analysis when necessary.
Together with the client, we develop a suitable strategy for post-processing LIDAR, image or photogrammetric data based on given specifications.
We quickly meet the requirements, develop the necessary documentation and workflows, provide guidance to our offshore staff and deliver the output data according to the agreed schedules.
If you collect data using mobile and aerial mapping technologies and have similar needs to generate inventory, digitize and validate road and infrastructure data, we look forward to supporting you with our services.
We create, update and maintain your road and infrastructure data with our highly specialized road data team. We quickly develop our required documentation and testing workflows, quality procedures, provide guidance to our teams and deliver the output data according to the agreed schedules.
